Mike has served the Millard community since 2003 on our school board and as President of the Omaha Public Library Board for the past 3 years. The Kennedy family have been champions of education and literacy. Mike's wife Molly, has served as an educator in our schools for the past decade and Mike's father Pat and his step-mother Judy, were Buffet Award winning educators that retired from Omaha Public Schools. Mike has been a champion for parent involvement and making sure our schools meet the highest academic standards. Mike helped bring the Early College Program to Millard South and has strongly supported Millard's AP Culture and Programs of Choice across the school district. Mike has kept our schools safe and open during the pandemic. Mike supports our schools having resource officers and strong safety measures in place to keep our kids and educators safe. Mike's budgeting philosophy and leadership has helped the district secure funding for our schools and helped win an "A" for budgeting for this year from Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom. Finally, Mike will keep the "culture clashes" and "politics" out of of our classrooms and keep Millard's focus on academics and supporting our students and educators.
Mike's honorary campaign chairman is former Millard Superintendent Dr. Keith Lutz. Dr. Lutz oversaw Millard's tremendous growth for two decades and helped make Millard Public Schools the district it is today. Dr Lutz supports Mike and his efforts for our schools and endorses his reelection to the Millard School Board.
Former Millard Superintendent Dr. Jim Sutfin has endorsed Mike. In his endorsement Dr. Sutfin said the following:
"I am proud to support Mike Kennedy's re-election to the MPS Board. He has served for 20 years and is a strong supporter of teachers and staff. He has advocated for strong budgets, supported security improvements, and served as President during the Levy Override election. A big part of the reason we have an Early College program in Millard is because of Mike's vision. In a time where stability has been needed most, Mike Kennedy has been there."
If we join together and make our voices heard, we can keep our schools strong and safe!
